Grayscale and Osprey settle bitcoin ETF lawsuit
2025-04-11 05:33:52
Digital asset management company Grayscale and Osprey have settled a legal dispute over the marketing practices of a bitcoin trust ETF. The parties are required to finalize and enforce the settlement documents within the next 45 days, according to court documents. The case stems from Osprey suing Grayscale in early 2023 for "misleading publicity" during the promotion of GBTC-to-ETF, and then Grayscale was approved by the SEC to convert to an ETF in 2024. The court had previously ruled in favor of Grayscale in February 2025, finding that the Connecticut Improper Business Conduct Act invoked by Osprey did not apply to securities cases. Details of the settlement have not been made public, and there has been no formal response from the parties.
