President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed an executive order calling for a review of regulations governing the export of military equipment as it seeks to make it easier for US defence companies to sell overseas. White House aide Will Scharf said that the main reason for our inability to provide weapons systems to our key allies in a reliable and effective manner is the inefficiency and inconsistency of our foreign arms sales approval process. As a result, the executive order will direct multiple agencies to redesign the foreign arms sales system to ensure that equipment that creates American jobs and provides US defence manufacturers with demonstrable revenue, while providing critical military equipment to our key allies in a reliable and effective manner.
