Bescent: Trump may reach a tariff deal with U.S. allies

U.S. Treasury Secretary Vincent Bessant said Wednesday that he believes the Trump administration can reach a tariff deal with U.S. allies as he prepares to lead negotiations with more than 70 countries in the coming weeks. Speaking at an American Bankers Association conference in Washington, Bessant said he would play a leading role in Trump's tariff negotiations. He added that despite the financial marekt, "overall, the companies I've talked to, the people who've come, the CEOs, and the people at the Treasury tell me that the economy is pretty solid.
