The European Union will impose the first set of tariffs on U.S. imports starting April 15 and the second set starting May 15, said European Union Vice President Sefcovic. The European Union is imposing tariffs on the U.S. in response to the Trump administration's decision to impose tariffs on steel, aluminum and automobiles, as well as a flat 20 percent tariff on other goods. In addition, the European Union will establish an import surveillance task force to monitor the possible diversion of goods as a result of U.S. tariffs.
