Former Bithumb CEO gets $3.50 million while in jail

Former Bithumb CEO Lee Sang-jun still received about 4.70 billion won (about $3.50 million) in compensation from the company while serving his sentence for taking bribes, including a $1.40 million bonus, a $1.50 million pension, and a $320,000 base salary. A Bithumb spokesperson said it contributed significantly to the company's professional operations. At the same time, wages in the South Korean crypto industry have soared. The chairperson of Upbit's parent company Dunamu was awarded $82 million last year, and the average annual salary of employees reached $147,000.
