According to the New York Times, four people familiar with the matter have revealed that European Union regulators are preparing to impose significant penalties on Musk's social media platform X for violating the European Union's Digital Services Act (DSA). The penalties will include fines and requirements for product changes, which could exceed $1 billion. The penalties are expected to be announced this summer. These will be the first penalties issued under the DSA, and one source said the regulator is trying to use X as an example to stop other companies from violating the DSA. European Union officials said the progress of their investigation into X, which began in 2023, is unrelated to Trump's tariffs.
