Lawmakers in the U.S. states of Minnesota and Alabama have submitted companion bills identical to existing ones that would allow states to purchase bitcoin.
On April 1, Minnesota Republican Rep. Bernie Perryman introduced the Minnesota Bitcoin Act (HF 2946) to the state's House of Representatives, following an identical bill introduced by Republican state Sen. Jeremy Miller on March 17. Meanwhile, in Alabama on the same day, Republican Sen. Will Barfoot introduced Senate Bill 283, while bipartisan Rep. Mike Shaw introduced the same House Bill 482, which would allow the state to invest in cryptocurrencies but essentially limit it to Bitcoin.
