Nasdaq futures widened their losses to 4 per cent, with S & P 500 futures down more than 3 per cent and Dow futures down 1.8 per cent as Mr. Trump announced so-called "reciprocal tariffs".
Apple's U.S. stock market fell 7.5% after trading, Tesla fell 5%, and Nvidia fell 4.4%.
Nasdaq futures expanded their decline to 4%.
