Miller Whitehouse-Levine, former CEO of the DeFi Education Fund, on Monday announced the creation of the Solana Policy Institute, a nonprofit organization aimed at educating lawmakers and regulators in Washington about cryptocurrencies "beyond bitcoin."
The institute's goal is to work with the newly established cryptocurrency task force of the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) and the future leadership of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and to influence the development of related bills such as stablecoins and market structures.
Whitehouse-Levine, who is currently the sole employee of the institute and plans to hire in the future, declined to name the group's funders, but the Solana Foundation said the institute was an independent and distinct organization. Whitehouse-Levine said the institute had a group of supporters with broad interests in the Solana ecosystem, but would remain anonymous.
