Thai authorities have decided to block "unauthorized" cryptocurrency platforms in order to improve the efficiency of law enforcement in tackling cybercrime, according to an announcement issued on Friday.
After a meeting of the Technology Crime Prevention and Suppression Committee, the Thai Securities and Exchange Commission or SEC was ordered to submit information about unauthorized digital asset service providers to the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to block access to these platforms.
The SEC has considered the impact on users and will give them time to manage their accounts before they are unable to use the service.
