The United States has proposed a plan to extend the current ceasefire agreement in Gaza through April, making its duration span Ramadan and Passover. According to a statement released by the US White House on Friday, the proposal is intended to provide more time for negotiating a permanent end to hostilities. The proposal, known as the "transition" plan, was made on Wednesday by US Special Envoy for the Middle East Witkov and National Security Council official Eric Trager, according to a statement from the relevant office. The statement further detailed that the proposal has been communicated to Hamas through Qatar and Egyptian partners. The statement made it clear that this "transition" plan needs to be implemented as soon as possible.
