The co-founder of Russian-sanctioned crypto exchange Garantex has been arrested in India

Aleksej Besciokov, co-founder of the sanctioned Russian crypto exchange Garantex, was arrested while on holiday in India. Besciokov faces charges of conspiracy to launder money, conspiracy to violate sanctions and operating an unlicensed money transfer business. Last week, a joint operation by international law enforcement agencies from the United States, Germany and Finland seized Garantex's servers and domain names and froze nearly $28 million in crypto assets, assisted by stablecoin issuer Tether.
