On March 12th, at the "Bitcoin For America" summit, Alaska Republican Representative Nick Begich announced that he would introduce the "Bitcoin Act 2025" in the US House of Representatives. The bill is an updated version of Senator Lummis' proposal last year, proposing that the United States acquire 1 million bitcoins (without increasing the burden on taxpayers) and protect the right of American citizens to self-host bitcoins.
"The bill explicitly protects the right of individuals to freely own, hold and trade bitcoin," said Rep. Begich. "It treats self-custody as a fundamental right."
