Circle Reduces USDC Cross-Chain Settlement Time to Seconds with Protocol Update

Circle announced a protocol update on Tuesday that it said would reduce cross-chain settlement times from minutes to seconds. The company's new cross-chain transfer protocol, V2 (CCTP V2), will improve on CCTP V1 with "a new suite of smart contracts and APIs" that reduce the "average 13 to 19 minutes" for cross-chain transactions between Ethereum and Layer 2 blockchains to just seconds.
