On March 9, Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development Ni Hong said at the press conference on the theme of people's livelihood at the third session of the 14th National People's Congress that efforts will be made to implement a number of urban renewal projects that benefit people's livelihood, promote development, and prevent risks. In terms of people's livelihood, the old urban communities built before 2000 should be included in the scope of urban renewal and transformation, and the transformation should be carried out according to local conditions, and local residents should be encouraged to explore the self-transformation of old residences. The scope of urban village reconstruction has now been expanded to prefecture-level and above cities across the country. The next step is to continue to expand the scope of transformation; vigorously promote the construction of complete communities, focusing on "one old and one small", and improve barrier-free, senior-friendly supporting facilities, government childcare service facilities, and children's activity venues.
