On March 9, Dong Lijuan, chief statistician of the Urban Division of the National Bureau of Statistics, interpreted the CPI and PPI data in February 2025. In February, the consumer price index (CPI) fell by 0.2% month-on-month and 0.7% year-on-year; the industrial producer price index (PPI) fell by 0.1% month-on-month and 2.2% year-on-year. This is mainly due to factors such as the wrong month of the Spring Festival, holidays and fluctuations in some international commodity prices. From a structural perspective, prices in some areas showed positive changes. The prices of some industrial consumer goods and services in the CPI rose steadily, while the decline in PPI narrowed. The current trend of moderate price recovery has not changed.
