China's defense spending as a share of GDP is lower than the world average

On March 4, Lou Qinjian, spokesperson for the Third Session of the 14th National People's Congress, said that the defense budget is part of China's overall national budget. China's defense expenditure has maintained single-digit growth for nine consecutive years since 2016, and the proportion of defense expenditure in GDP has remained within 1.5% for many years, lower than the world average.
