ISO: 2024/25 annual global sugar supply gap forecast to 4.88 million tonnes

It is expected that India's 2024/25 annual sugar production will be 27.27 million tons, lower than the 29.31 million tons previously forecast, and far lower than the 32.20 million tons in the previous year. The previous survey showed that the median forecast of Indian sugar production is 27.55 million tons, and the global sugar supply gap is 2 million tons. 2024/25 annual global sugar production is expected to be 175.54 million tons, lower than the previous forecast of 179.07 million tons. At the same time, global sugar consumption has also been revised down from the previous forecast of 181.58 million tons to 180.42 million tons. In addition, sugar production forecasts for Pakistan and Thailand were also lowered from 6.75 million tonnes to 6.16 million tonnes and from 11 million tonnes to 10.45 million tonnes respectively.
