Cape received a total of $61 million in investment, including $21 million in seed and Series A rounds (the company was still secretive at the time), and $40 million in Series B. Cape, a Washington, D.C.-based start-up founded by former Palantir executives, announced a mobile service designed to provide a more secure communication experience. The service will be sold on a prepaid model, with the primary goal of providing users with eSIM. The company's chief executive, John Doyle, said it will launch a commercial service in June and has already partnered with Unicom. The round was co-led by A * and Andreessen Horowitz (A16Z), with participation from XYZ Ventures, ex/ante, Costanoa Ventures, Point72 Ventures, Forward Deployed VC, and Karman Ventures.
