Bybit CEO Ben Zhou posted on social media, "I agree with CZ that if this hack was done by infiltrating our internal systems (e.g. a part of the withdrawal system) or by breaching hot wallets, we will immediately suspend all withdrawals until we find the root cause of the problem."
But in yesterday's incident, our ETH cold wallet (we use Safe) was breached, which has nothing to do with any of our internal systems. Therefore, I can decisively decide to keep all Bybit withdrawals and system functions running as usual.
Binance and CZ, along with many partners and industry leaders, have offered to help during last night's crisis, and we are deeply grateful for that and feel incredibly warm for the support we have received. This incident has been a huge blow to Bybit, but the industry as a whole has shown the power of unity. I am confident that everything can only move in a better direction from now on.
