The Commissioner of Police of Hong Kong, Siu Chak-yi, said that a total of 2,636 reports involving JPEX cases have been received so far, involving an amount of about 1.60 billion yuan. So far, the police have arrested 72 people and frozen assets of about 228 million yuan. At the meeting of the Special Finance Committee of the Legislative Council, Councillor Ng Kit-chuang asked how many of the technology crimes received by the police involved virtual asset fraud. Siu Chak-yi said that there were 6,330 investment fraud cases received last year, with losses exceeding 5.90 billion yuan, accounting for about two-thirds of the total losses of all fraud cases. Among them, 2,342 cases involved cryptocurrencies, amounting to about 3.16 billion yuan.
