On April 18 news, the U.S. Arkansas Legislature has passed two bills that may restrict cryptocurrency mining activities in the state. During a Senate hearing on April 17, lawmakers tried to address general issues such as noise reduction, foreign ownership, and the proximity of cryptocurrency mining farms to residential areas. Two of the eight bills submitted to the House of Representatives on Wednesday passed, but the Senate approved only one bill dealing with cryptocurrencies last week. There is considerable debate over whether Bill 851 should be amended and the level of detail those amendments should contain. The relevant committees will discuss the issue and then possibly pass a law at this fiscal session or the next.
