The Norwegian National Agency for Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crimes (Ökokrim) on Monday charged four men with defrauding 963 million Norwegian kroner (approximately $86.5 million) through a fake investment scheme between 2015 and 2018. The scam ring lured investors with cryptocurrencies such as OctaCoin, NanoCoin, Ormeus Coin, promising high returns but not making any real investments.
Victims were spread across Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, and China, and they put money into investment projects called Crypto888 Club, Octa Partners, and Nano Club. These brands were actually part of the same Ponzi scheme, which was renamed Nano Club after Octa Partners collapsed, then Crypto888, and finally Nano Crowd, in order to continue defrauding investors.
