On February 18th, according to Cointelegraph, the NFT marketplace OpenSea has suspended the XP reward system due to user criticism of its new airdrop reward mechanism. The new reward system was launched on January 28th with the beta version of its upgrade marketplace OS2. Users can earn points by listing and bidding on works to improve their eligibility for the platform's native token SEA airdrop.
Community members expressed dissatisfaction with the XP system, believing that the mechanism is not conducive to builders, promotes washing transactions, and prioritizes access to fees. In response, OpenSea co-founder and CEO Devin Finzer announced the suspension of XP rewards for listing and bidding, and instead focused on the XP distribution mechanism launched on February 14.
