1Confirmation-backed company MeebCo has acquired Meebits from Yuga Labs for an undisclosed sum. It is reported that Meebits will launch a participation-driven rewards system Bits and form a partnership with OpenSea.
Following the sale of Meebits, Yuga Labs plans to focus on the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT brand and its Etherside meta-universe project. Daniel Alegre, CEO of Yuga Labs, has said that following the company's restructuring and layoffs in October 2023, the company will prioritize the development of Etherside, while leveraging existing brand partnerships. The company has also acquired Proof Collective and its NFT family of Moonbirds, and plans to include the project in Etherside early last year.
