Helika, a data analytics company, reported that retention rates for Telegram games "hover around 5-20 per cent, well below traditional game benchmarks of 20-30 per cent".
The analytics firm also said disappointing airdrops, particularly Hamster Kombat, caused the "excitement" of Telegram's click-to-make-money games to dissipate, after which Hamster Kombat's user base plummeted from 300 million in August to 41 million in November.
The company added: "As the appeal of easy airdrop money fades, the number of DAUs/MAUs in similar apps declines and the active level of the entire ecosystem declines."
