Crypto exchange Deribit withdraws from Russian market due to European Union sanctions

On February 7, according to the Russian news agency Tass, according to a statement published on its official website, crypto exchange Deribit announced its withdrawal from the Russian market due to sanctions imposed by the European Union. Deribit said: "Due to European Union sanctions against Russia, Deribit will no longer accept Russian citizens and Russian residents as customers, unless exceptions apply. Since Deribit's parent company is located in the Netherlands, these European Union sanctions are binding on us."
Russian citizens are not allowed to use the services of this cryptocurrency exchange unless they are simultaneously citizens of a member state of the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland, or have a long-term residence in an EEA member state or Switzerland. According to the examples cited by the exchange, Russian citizens residing in Ireland or simultaneously holding Danish citizenship can use Deribit services. Russians residing in the UAE cannot use its services either. Russian companies do not enjoy any exceptions.
