The Cboe BZX exchange filed a 19b-4 filing on behalf of Bitwise, 21Shares, WisdomTree, and Canary Capital to list and trade spot exchange-traded products tracking XRP, the fourth largest cryptocurrency by market cap.
The 19b-4 petition is the second part of a two-step process for filing a cryptocurrency ETF application with the Securities Exchange Commission. Once approved by the Securities Exchange Commission, the application will be published in the Federal Register, initiating the agency's approval process.
Bitwise first filed a registration for the spot XRP ETF in October, while 21Shares filed an S-1 registration statement for the XRP ETF with the Securities Exchange Commission in November.
