Ethereum's "Pectra" upgrade will hit the Holesky and Sepolia testnets in February and March. Pectra will include a number of improvements, with a particular focus on wallets and validators. If these tests are successful, developers will reconvene on March 6 to determine when the upgrade will officially launch.
Some developers now say it could hit the mainnet in early April. Pectra is a hybrid word that stands for two separate upgrades, Prague and Electra, and contains eight major improvements to the second largest blockchain. The most anticipated of these is EIP-7702, which aims to improve the user experience of crypto wallets. Another major feature of Pectra, EIP-7251, will allow validators to increase the amount of their staking - from 32 ETH to 2,048 ETH.
