Telegram's third-party crypto wallets will now have to use TON Connect as its exclusive wallet connection protocol, a spokesperson for the TON Foundation said. The new requirements are part of Telegram's partnership with the TON Foundation, which makes TON the only blockchain network supported by its Comm. Svcs. Existing Mini Programs running on other blockchains will have until February 21 to transition to TON, including bridging existing assets, migrating smart contracts and using TON Connect exclusively, the foundation's representative said.
TON Connect is an open source toolkit that serves as a "common application authorization standard" or communication protocol between wallets and applications within the TON ecosystem. The toolkit enables users to log into applications and services using the TON wallet instead of the more commonly used login names and passwords.
Telegram requires all third-party crypto wallets on the platform to access TON Connect.
