On January 27th, Austrian crypto unicorn Bitpanda received a MiCA license from the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), becoming the second crypto asset service provider (CASP) to be granted this license. The license is effective immediately, allowing Bitpanda to operate in the 27 member states of the European Union.
Bitpanda CEO Eric Demuth stressed that the European Union needs to learn from the US experience and strengthen MiCA regulatory enforcement to prevent non-compliant platforms from continuing to operate. He pointed out that the United States is rapidly positioning itself as a global crypto hub, and the European Union needs to take more active measures to maintain a competitive advantage.
