Petrobras launches bitcoin mining research and development to explore the application of blockchain in the transformation of oil business

Petrobras launched a blockchain research and development project in January 2025, covering areas such as bitcoin mining, asset tokenization, and the application of consensus mechanisms. The project will be carried out in conjunction with institutions such as Cenpes R & D Center, Petrobras University, and Ledger Labs of the Catholic University of Rio. In addition, Petrobras has partnered with the Cardano Foundation to issue 500 dynamic NFTs for employee blockchain training in late 2023.
