1 月 24 日消息，巴黎检察官周四晚间召开新闻发布会表示，Ledger 联合创始人 David Balland 和他的妻子于周二清晨在法国中部的家中被绑架，并被汽车带到两个不同地点囚禁，在事件中其手部受到严重伤害。在绑架过程中，绑匪联系了另一位 Ledger 联合创始人，要求以加密货币支付赎金，目前已进行部分支付。
此次救援行动出动了法国精锐战术警察部队之一 GIGN 的 90 多名警官，最终解救了 David Balland 并逮捕了绑匪。次日其妻子被发现被绑在车内，但没有受伤。10 名嫌疑人员正在接受警方讯问。检察官称，几乎所有支付给绑匪的加密货币都被追踪、冻结和扣押。
Ledger 董事长兼首席执行官帕斯卡·高蒂尔 (Pascal Gauthier) 在一份声明中表示：「David 和他的妻子已获释，现在安全了，我们深感欣慰。David 自 2021 年起已离开 Ledger，目前没有在公司担任任何职务。」
