U.S. Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren has criticized Trump's meme and urged the U.S. Office of Government Ethics and financial regulators to delve into the ethical and regulatory details of the TRUMP token.
Warren, the top Democrat on the Senate banking committee that oversees the US financial regulator, said the assets, including first lady Melania Trump's own eponymous meme coin, posed conflicts of interest and highlighted "the most disruptive and volatile corners" of the cryptocurrency space.
"$TRUMP and $MELANIA pose a serious risk to President Trump's ability to govern impartially and to investors in these currencies who may fall victim to a conspiracy orchestrated by the Trump family," Warren concluded in the letter.
