On January 21, Bitcoin.com reported that there are growing concerns within the Ethereum ecosystem about its pace of development.
Jesse Pollak, the head of Base (the two-layer network of the Bitcoin base), has criticized the current roadmap for Ethereum as too conservative, calling for an update originally scheduled for 2027 to be brought forward to early 2026.
Ethereum Foundation developer Dankrad Feist shared a similar view, saying that the current growth plan "lacks ambition" and pointed out that there are problems with the existing upgrade process. Feist also questioned the view that scaling can only be achieved on a second-layer network, emphasizing that large-scale scaling of Ethereum's base layer is feasible.
