US stocks close: Nasdaq index down 1.7%, Tesla down more than 5%

U.S. stocks closed Monday, with the Dow initially down 250 points or 0.65 percent, the S & P 500 down 1.2 percent and the Nasdaq down 1.79 percent. Tesla (TSLA. O) closed down 5.5 percent, while Apple (AAPL. O), NVIDIA (NVDA. O) and Microsoft (MSFT. O) fell in the 2 percent line. The Nasdaq China Golden Dragon index closed down 0.48 percent, Alibaba (BABA. N) fell nearly 1 percent and NIO (NIO. N) fell 5 percent.
