According to CoinDesk, blockchain security firm Elliptic reported that Huione, an illegal trading platform with a total transaction size of $24 billion, launched its own stablecoin USDH and chat service.
The platform previously mainly used USDT, but developed USDH to circumvent regulatory restrictions after Tether froze accounts in July 2024 for involvement with the North Korean Lazarus group.
The Elliptic investigation revealed that the platform was linked to the Cambodian Huione Group and was involved in illegal activities such as money laundering, fraud, and human trafficking, including forced online fraud at the Golden Fortune Technology Park.
