Abkhaz miners may run out of Russia's emergency power supply

On January 14, it was reported that due to the decrease in the supply of "humanitarian electricity" provided by Moscow to Abkhazia, it is expected that by February 18, the emergency power provided by Russia will be exhausted. The only major hydropower station in Abkhazia was shut down due to the low water level of the reservoir, and the government was unable to prevent crypto miners from continuing to operate large-scale mines through legal loopholes. Residents believe that law enforcement agencies knew the location and owner of the mines, but did not take effective measures. This has led to anger among the Russian public and media about the energy consumption in Abkhazia, because Russian taxpayers need to pay for it, and domestic electricity prices in Russia are also rising.
