英国法官Keyser KC法官驳回了威尔士纽波特IT工程师James Howells追回埋在纽波特垃圾填埋场的价值 7.35 亿美元的比特币硬盘的申请，理由是环境风险。纽波特市议会一直拒绝进入2013年意外丢弃硬盘的垃圾场，据BBC报道，法官认为该案件在审判中“没有实际成功的可能性”。Howells在2009年开采了比特币，当时开采成本仅需几美分，并将其存储在后来被错误丢弃的硬盘上。
