On April 15, Rusal, the Russian aluminum giant, issued a statement on April 15 saying that the new sanctions on Russian metals by the United States and the United Kingdom will not affect the company's supply capacity, because Rusal's global logistics distribution solutions, banking system, overall production and quality system will not be affected. "We will still be able to provide hedging services to our customers and continue to work on market-based pricing," Rusal said. "Consumer demand for Russian metals remains strong around the world," the company said. On April 13, the United States and the United Kingdom announced new trading restrictions on Russian aluminum, copper and nickel. The new rules prohibit the LME and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange from accepting new Russian metal, including aluminium, copper and nickel produced on or after April 13. The US also bans imports of all three metals from Russia.
