Matthew Luzzetti, an economist at Deutsche Bank, said the four regional Fed presidents who will be given voting rights on the Federal Reserve's FOMC this year are likely to make more contentious policy decisions. Chicago Fed President Goolsbee is seen as one of the committee's most dovish voices, while St Louis Fed Chairs Moussalem and Kansas City Fed President Schmid are seen as potential hawks. Notably, neither Moussalem nor Schmid has voted on the committee before. "The more diverse you are, the more likely there is to be disagreement, especially because if inflation is persistently high and the labour market is weakening, this creates tension in the Fed's dual mandate and obscures the Fed's response," Luzzetti said.
