OpenAI's board of directors considers adopting a for-profit nonprofit organizational structure

OpenAI: Plans are underway to transform an existing for-profit organization into a Delaware nonprofit, and the board is evaluating the corporate structure to select a nonprofit or for-profit structure. A nonprofit corporation (PBC) will be responsible for operating and controlling OpenAI's business operations, while a nonprofit corporation (PBC) will allow us to raise the necessary funds on regular terms, like other companies in the space. Nonprofits, on the other hand, will hire leadership teams and employees to carry out charitable activities.
