Teresa Goody Guillén, a former litigation advisor to the Securities Exchange Commission and a partner at law firm BakerHostetler, said that the Securities Exchange Commission is expected to bring fewer cases against cryptocurrency companies in the new year, and in the future, the Securities Exchange Commission will only be able to file lawsuits in cases involving securities. Therefore, if the lawsuit does not involve securities, the agency will refer these bad actors to the Department of Justice and other regulatory agencies, such as the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
