Canadian fintech company Nuvei has launched a payment settlement service using stablecoins for merchants in Latin America. Interoperability platform Rain, digital custodian BitGo and credit card issuer Visa are partners in its blockchain-based solution.
Latin American merchants participating in the Nuvei solution will be able to use physical or virtual Visa cards to make payments in stablecoins through digital wallets. BitGo will offer custody of digital assets. The service will be available anywhere Visa is accepted. It will offer faster cross-border transactions, lower complexity and better operational liquidity compared to traditional payment methods, according to a statement.
