Jorge Tenreiro, the former head of the Securities Exchange Commission's crypto and networking division, has been promoted to lead litigation and investigations at the SEC, just weeks after the Trump administration took over the White House.
Tenreiro has been with the SEC's Crypto & Networking Division since 2022, having served as Deputy Director and taking over as Head of Division in June 2023. He has led the SEC's litigation against key players in the crypto industry, including Kraken, Coinbase, Tron, Ripple Labs, and was involved in the FTX case and the settlement between Terraform Labs and its former CEO Do Kwon, which resulted in an all-time settlement of $4.47 billion for the SEC.
