David Schwartz, chief technology officer of Ripple, recently joined the list of tech founders opposing Operation Chokepoint 2.0, a government-run campaign to de-bank the crypto industry. Mr. Schwartz said the government was "obsessed with indirect regulation" and listed four reasons why de-banking undermines the rule of law.
Schwartz argued that de-banked entities would switch service providers or move money underground - evading surveillance and sanctions altogether. The CTO also said that eliminating banking would undermine due process, freedom of speech, and the right to oppose illegal searches and seizures.
