Decentralized prediction market platform Polymarket has announced the suspension of access to its platform for French users. The move comes weeks after the French National Gaming Authority (ANJ) launched a gaming compliance investigation into the platform.
It is reported that the investigation originated from a French trader who made a large bet on the 2024 US Presidential Election for Trump on the platform. Although Polymarket has implemented an IP ban, according to the French cryptocurrency news website The Big Whale, users can still access the platform through a VPN. As of press time, Polymarket's terms of service have not been updated with relevant restrictions.
