On November 19th, Washington, D.C. District Court Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly sentenced Heather Morgan (rapper "Razzlekhan"), one of the suspects in the Bitfinex hacking case, to 18 months in prison at a hearing on November 18th. In August 2023, Morgan pleaded guilty to conspiracy to launder money and fraud charges. She was the wife and accomplice of Ilya Lichenstein, a hacker who stole 120,000 bitcoins from cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex in 2016 and laundered the money.
On Nov. 14, Judge Kollar-Kotelly sentenced Lichathan to five years in prison, well below the 20 years allowed by sentencing guidelines. Prosecutors noted that the hacker had provided "substantial assistance" in other investigations and that he had no prior criminal record.
