On April 9th, Democratic New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced at the Bitcoin Policy Summit held at the National News Club in Washington that although negotiations are still ongoing, she is expected to jointly propose a new stablecoin bill with Republican Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis later this week or next week. Kirsten Gillibrand stated that her goal is to "unleash the potential of cryptocurrency and realize the original intention of Bitcoin as a payment method. We are collaborating with the Federal Reserve, Treasury Department, and New York State Department of Financial Services to allow non depository institutions to issue stablecoins while promoting security and stability within the industry.".
