The European Central Bank (ECB) has been using central bank funds to organise a wholesale DLT settlement pilot for the past six months. More than 70 institutions are now participating. All participants are very positive about the trial and are eager to see it continue. At the same time, they hope to hear the ECB's next roadmap before the settlement trial concludes at the end of this month. Thilo Derenbach, an executive at Clearstream, a unit of Deutsche Bo ̈ rse, said the ECB is strongly advised not to end the trial period now, but to wait for months or even years.
